Trying not to pre-judge but these song titles don't get me too excited to be honest for the new album.
I thought Barn was one of the better albums Neil has done in recent memory. Just finally picked up the vinyl yesterday on Amazon for $11.50. Looking forward to this next one. I feel like Crazy Horse Mach 2 is just getting started.
probably just being polite. what are you gonna do when neil and rick are sitting right there? jack did say something about the entire album being about "earth", and neil said the lyrics basically all came to him in one day and he didn't change "a word", so i'll let you draw your own conclusions based on his recent projects. the new jack white song was pretty damn good. it really sounded like it could be a white stripes song.
I did notice NYA added more Earth related tabs on the Times Contrarian; -Earth News I -Earth News II -Oceans -Agriculture
I hope Rubin could get the best of Neil's vision and focus but I doubt it. Seems like Briggs/Ben Keith were the few that could accomplish that!
If this new album is short on guitar jams I hope we get more of the Crazy Horse harmonies. Where they appear on Barn and Colorado they can really elevate the material. Four guys in their 70s and they can still turn out some really good singing.
I can’t say I’m encouraged by the fact that Neil said the lyrics came to him over the course of the day. What was I saying earlier about half baked? Still, if anyone can pull off something so spontaneous, it’s Neil.
Like Neil says, "These songs are enviro-marches. Songs of this time. A parade of songs. Marching through. I laugh to myself when I wonder how these songs will be received. For some, it may be a long parade."
Sure are. I like Neil's confidence and bravery as per usual but this project could be a stinker. Let's hope I'm pleasantly surprised.
I don't think there has ever been a *bad* NYCH album - some better than others, so I'm hoping Ralph, Billy and Nils can help keep the QC to a certain level of standard.
