    Priest = Aura is a great album!
    I normally pick From Elvis In Memphis, if Elvis is going through my mind when I do one of these, but I like Elvis Is Back just as much, so I changed out lol

    I see a lotta love for Steely Dan in this forum. It's a band I never paid much attention to. I listened Countdown to Extinction but I wasn't impressed

    Yeah, I know, I was actually surprised to see that you hadn't picked From Elvis In Memphis :). But I agree, Elvis Is Back is great, too. I love Elvis. I'm one of those fans, who tend to feel that you can't really have too much Elvis in your collection.

    Ten picks only leaves much to be cherished on par with, so this might be list number one out of 100 or something ..
    all others of which might follow the same format as here ;
    5-Jazz, 2-Soul, 2-Country,
    1-Rock/World/other

    Billie Holiday , Lady Sings the Blues (1956)
    Billie Holiday , Lady in Satin (1958)
    Modern Jazz Quartet , Patterns (1959)
    Bill Evans , Portrait in Jazz (1960)
    Otis Redding ,Otis Blue/.. Sings Soul (1965)
    Waylon Jennings , Leavin' Town (1966)
    Bobbie Gentry , Ode to Billie Joe (1967)
    Ike & Tina Turner , Come Together (1970)
    Emerson, Lake & Palmer , s/t* (1970)
    Count Basie , Afrique (1971)

    *I chose ELP today since it is an outlier in my collection (the only ELP album I care for enough to own); I just listened to it again the other day; and, it is an early example of the classically-influenced, fledgling progressive-rock genre and stands to this day a largely-unmatched example.
