don't know how i missed this. last wplj show sponsored by singer sewing machines.

"bonnie the singer says i don't have a sewing machine". priceless.

where has america gone? ( rhetorical - i think we know ).

"when this battle is over - who will wear the crown" ( rhetorical - i think i know).

@notesfrom what a wonderful discovery this recording is. 'tis a good thing, you do.

was that the fairly recent tarantino film with very loosely based interpretations "of the time"?

never saw it. for the same reason(s) i would never watch that ridiculous andy slater "laurel canyon" fictionalized nonsense.

i learned my "lesson" seeing oliver stones "the doors" with manzerek and rothchild and holzman at a screening.

if you had "been there"? you cannot help but be disappointed by those that weren't - and their fictionalized "accounts" decades later.

It wasn't bad. Worth a view for sure, since you were there. And the soundtrack is very good.
It was meant to be entertaining and a bit mythological, and features quite a few Raiders songs.
    Might give you a flashback.

i'm sure it could. as i have posted ad nauseum here given i spent time at terry's house he shared with lindsay when i was a kid. to see historical representations that from necessity need to be fast and loose can be painful, so i mostly refrain. but he does give good soundtrack.

it's also why i don't read "laurel canyon music" books. unless i'm told i made it into 'em lol

so i'm not going to say i wasn't interested in seeing it when it was hyped released as i have liked a few of tarantino's films. but i've had a few drinks with him also.

    pass.

The whole point of the film is catharsis. But, your mind, your choice.

Like we used to say about the 60's (I'm gonna add in the early 70's as well), "If you remember the 60's, you weren't there!"
(I ain't reading 40+ pages of the same ol', same ol').

    July album release:

Deep Purple's Fireball, their fifth studio album, and second with the Mk.II ‘Smoke On The Water’ lineup with Ian Gillan on vocals. It will hit #1 in the UK… #32 in the US. Despite its success, most of the band members are not overly fond of the album, feeling it was made too quickly.

Charles Lloyd/ The Flowering of the Original Charles Lloyd Quartet Recorded in Concert

Recorded on tour in France and Norway in 1966, released in July 1971. One of my favorite documents of the classic Charles Lloyd Quartet with Keith Jarrett, Cecil McBee, and Jack DeJohnette.

A Szabo tune. I first became aware of Lloyd through Chico Hamilton records. Eric Dolphy, Gabor Szabo, Lloyd, Larry Coryell, passed thru his bands.
