    July album release:

Jack Bruce's Harmony Row is the third studio album from the Scottish musician - taking its title from a tenement street in Glasgow, near where Bruce grew up. The street, since demolished, was famous as the largest unbroken house-row in Europe, stretching for over a mile.

Although cited by Bruce as his favorite solo album, Harmony Row does not chart upon its release, and the album will be his last solo effort for over three years. Lyricist Peter Brown, from the Cream days, provides the lyrics.

July 28— George Harrison releases the non-album single, 'Bangla-Desh,' hoping to bring attention to the refugee crisis in that country (formerly East Pakistan). Ravi Shankar had approached Harrison to see if he could help alleviate the suffering in that country.

Meanwhile, Harrison has also been planning the first major rock fundraiser, to benefit the same cause - to take place on August 1, at Madison Square Garden, in New York City. An Indian astrologer had advised that early August will be a good time in which to stage the concert.

The single will reach #23 in the US, #10 in the UK, #2 in Poland and Switzerland, and the top 10 in thirteen other territories. Leon Russell, Klaus Voormann, Ringo Starr, Jim Keltner, Billy Preston, and Jim Horn are heard on the record.

Ace Frehley wrote about seeing the Dead at Gaelic Park, and briefly meeting Jerry Garcia, in August. I wonder if he also saw Sabbath that summer.

i swear. this thread is often like those old slide show carousel things that put the images on the wall lol. love it.

the last time i was at that spot long after the ash grove had burned down? was at a "traffic school" with me and rodney bingenheimer heckling the "instructor" who was making us sit there for 4 hours to squash a ticket.

it was by then called the "laugh factory". i told the guy: "you ain't funny and we're a captive audience". free us scofflaws now lol

Isaac Hayes' Shaft - the film soundtrack - consisting mostly of instrumentals composed by Hayes as the score for the film - though three vocal selections are included. The soundtrack album, and the main theme-song single, will both hit #1 on the Billboard charts. Shaft is the best-selling LP ever released on a Stax label.
