Have there been any hints about what may be in store to mark The Doors 50th Anniversary in 2017?

No doubt there will be yet another best of.

The 40th, in 2007, saw the release of the Perception box, with all the albums mixed into 5.1.

My bet is on a super deluxe box for the debut album. Mono / stereo mixes; 5.1 reissued; live stuff etc.

A well done Matrix release would be great.

I could see the deluxe version of the first album, as well. Would love to see a really well done mastering of mono version.

First album (perhaps Strange Days, too) and Matrix box sets are a good bet. I'm certainly interested depending on content.

I really don't mean to nitpick, but they formed in 1965. Even if you use the date of their first release it was late 1966.

I played "Strange Days" the other day. What a fantastic album. The Doors has influenced musicians as well as authors. It's easy to understand why. Every component in their music is distinctive and a work of art.

Most likely a lot of things will be announced but not much will actually be released.

Yeah, I can see how people are pessimistic after the 'Year of the Doors' disappointment. However, this time may be different due to the copyright laws. Let's hope they give us quality product at a fair price.

I think 2017 will see a plethora of 5oth Anniversary projects devoted to various artists and iconic albums. Let's start saving up....

Also, what are the chances Billy Joel plays Miami some time during 2017 ?
    Or Yankee Stadium?

I think Doors fans can expect a lot. I predict fans will be very happy by the end of next year. A ton of stuff planned.

And here we go again. Doors managment has planned a zillion things that never came to fruition, or it took to long to transform into a phisical release, or did it in a ridiculous way like the fog. Better wait and see before the fireworks are launched.

When will the Doors catalog ever be remastered--oh, wait. Never mind.

People have the right to complain all they want about anything. Doors fans, more than many, have earned that right.

If the 50th anniversary year is not a total disappointment, we'll all be in for a shock. If this London Fog monstrosity was meant to kick it off with a bang, they're already started with a whimper.

Who is the driving force behind all of the various remasters, boxes and such ? Do Robby and John have an interest in keeping things rolling with any 50th Anniversary products ? I wish Ray were still here as I believe he would be interested in furthering the output. I am cautiously optimistic for 2017 Doors output.

I recall the LA Woman Box set being planned as well, and everyone's still waiting. I'm willing to bet Jim comes back from Africa before we see it...
