I don't think so. "Take 8" as it exists on the tape *is* best...it's just that it is already an edit of a few different overdub takes. Looking back, 12, 8, 9, and 10.

 

Any photos yet of the new box set?

 

There hasn't been an official announcement yet.
Thinking Fri there might be one since it's 6 weeks prior to Nov 15 (that is a speculative date) but that would be real soon after the AR50th release, so who knows?

I hate it when people come over admiring my Beatles collection then saying something like "you have everything else, why don't you have that?"

It's all about impressing your friends (and strangers)... I need to get this box set! And if it's beautiful like Mark said, that's bonus points!

 

It's like when my wife says "It's ok that you need to have that, even though you already have everything on it." She has no idea how much Beatles stuff I am not buying... [including this singles box, most likely]

 

jmxw, we are going round in circles. What will the neighbours think if you won't buy the new Beatles release? Your wife won't be amused. Probably.

 

This. It doesn't matter how many previous released issues of the singles you already have, the new box is without a doubt a must have even if you don't want it. A kind of sacred duty. Buy it, put it on your shelf, wait for the next announcement and so on.

 

I brought the Christmas box when that came out (two years ago?) and I don’t think I’ve ever put any of the records on my turntable. Still the box looks nice.

 

I guess that's where we differ. I am not interested in pretty packaging so much.

For me, it's all about the music. [Or the snippets of dialog that aren't on any other releases..] Does being proud of having the CD EP box because it's the only digital copy of She's A Woman with the count-in count for anything? To me it does... Whereas a box of 45s that doesn't feature any new [or improved] sounds does not.

 

When 1 came out, Ringo jokingly said something like "everybody has all the songs, but not in this order."

 

But what if the single of "I Feel Fine"/"She's A Woman" included in this new box has the count-in for "She's A Woman" ?

Then what do you do?

Right. It's the stereo mix with the count-off, not the mono mix.

Ringo still has it, that's a Fab Four Era type responce.

 

For me it's all about the music, too. But I'm a fanboy also. Fortunately I only collect vinyl and no CDs (but because of the nice books, I bought the CD/BR box sets of "the Beatles" and "Abbey Road" too).

I really love buying new Beatles things.

 

I think that would be too close to the AR50 release. They’re still advertising and trying to push the new remix. My guess is end of October
