    Misleading but not a crisis.

That’s what I’m asking you. What does it matter that the video mentions remastering?

Okay - so I'm a Spotify nerd. I went ahead and re-created this in Spotify.

The Beatles - The Singles Collection, a playlist by weasel_bot on Spotify

I have to say - it makes for a pretty good listen. Skips over a few things - Rubber Soul where did you go? - but still - a good listen.

Also - this is a re-creation - not all the correct versions are available in Spotify - but this at least approximates it decently. (i.e. I'm using the correct Love Me Do, Free As A Bird, Real Love)

    Cheers,
    Paul

  5. A slap in the face ? Hahahaha..

I assume the book discuses their 45 output and legacy, so showcasing some of their other officially released picture sleeves tells a fuller story.

I’m in the US and this ain’t no slap in the face. .

Six of the original Capitol singles have been issued this decade with beautiful repro sleeves. Has any other country received such preferential treatment?

This is the box I own and the EP box. I have pre-ordered the new box for $200 on Amazon.

These Beatles guys are the coolest and just like Pokemon " You Gotta Collect Them All!"

Have fun everyone! See you round the funny pages.

I dig that a set of all the singles is getting a release. It is the perfect Christmas gift for most Beatle fans.

but i can't help but feel underwhelmed that they didn't take the risk of remixing all the singles and releasing a remix singles box.
(i don't mean to cause controversy)

    Great to hear.
I had actually started working on this playlist but got distracted lol.
Im thinking of doing the international singles -before 1970-

Thanks! With VAT removed for US delivery, it's more than 10 euros cheaper than Amazon.fr, where I have an order pending (among others), but the shipping charge to the US from the IT site is double that of FR, so the result is that IT is only about $2 cheaper than FR.

I'll just stick with my FR, DE and US pre-orders (I'll delete DE and one of the others -- I'd prefer to keep the US one for obvious reasons, but it would have to come down quite a bit, which doesn't seem likely).

This I did not know. Did they all come out the same time or staggered through the years?

There were four Target exclusive T-Shirt boxes in 2011:

And a four disc box in 2012:

I guess one shouldn't be dogmatic about it, but the greatness of the 2014 mono box vs the a little less spectecular 2012 stereo box makes a lot of us hope for an AAA release. If they use digital files, I guess it would probably be those from 2009/2012.

Shaming someone for posting an opinion of a Beatle product in a Beatle product thread on a site dedicated to such hobbies. Real classy .

There’s a store here in Vienna that still has 2 of those 2012 boxes in stock.

And that version of I Am The Walrus had a very dodgy edit that reinstated the middle bit:

I am really only slightly interested in a release like that but still:
Is this the first time their singles get a remastered re-issue?
Am I right to assume that there only ever were two batches of singles re-issues - the Singles blue box and those 80s re-issues with colorful sleeves?

The 2012 box was not simply cut from digital, it was cut specifically from the 2009 restorations, which were not always highly regarded. AHDN in particular had a lot of issues. But those weren’t “digital” issues, they were restoration issues.

Dodgy is being kind. How about ham fisted? Same thing I suppose.

In its own way that single approaches Penny Lane (RM11 Pepper Box) territory. Not nearly as bad.

Funny, the Rarities version has a better edit than the original 45.

The Rarities edit is ok, considering the edit piece was fake-stereo from mono. The original 45 had no edit though, it was unedited.

It makes one wonder if Capitol's original tape master for the single is lost. How could that happen though?
