IMHO I think yuck explains it all. I'll admit I'm an older guy, but I've heard a lot of the music nominated. Again, yuck!

Well, they started it off with a number that looks to be straight out of Havana or Rio. Little Big Town and Dan and Shay might be worth listening to. And Lady Gaga should be great if she can restrain herself from any political attacks.

Nice to see Lady Gaga win for Shallow.

She was very emotional. A bit much, I think, but of course, I didn’t just win a Grammy.

She also won a BAFTA today too and was pretty emotional about that too.

Mendez was rather, er, "pitchy", but Miley was quite powerful and right on tune.

The Grammy Awards used to be a huge deal to me, one I hotly anticipated in the days leading up to it. Now I know almost nothing about the songs or artists. The Middle is about the only recognizable tune to me and that's only because of those relentless Target commercials. When did I become my parents?

Face it were all old. The same things that annoy people about the Grammy awards today annoyed people 30 years ago

She usually is. For all of her silliness when she wants to she can really sing.

Yeah, this song is better than anything he had done since ~1995 or so.

More accurately, a crotch rubber with a guitar. She can't seem to keep her hands off herself. It's as if she's channeling Michael Jackson here, even the rhythm and vocals. Just calling it as it is, folks.

  23. Yep. When guitar rock crowded out big band music, a vibrant and really fantastic art form and type of musicianship was relegated to 2nd class status. Many of those guys were far better musicians than the rock gods of the day. But they didn't make THAT sound. Same thing today. There are aesthetics and skills in making some types of modern music that we cannot so easily distinguish. A lot of it probably is objectively worse than the best stuff of yesteryear. But a little bit of it will filter through and endure.

Good thing no artist has ever suggestively touched themselves in performance, right?

A really good big band is just awesome to listen to, because of the sheer musical virtuosity of the performers.
