Yeah, I heard that this morning. I haven't really checked out the full list of nominees yet, so I haven't tried to gauge her chances.

I like him in a "enjoy his hits when they play on the radio" sort of way. I have to admit that I've never gone beyond the radio hits with him.

No one should have to explain Jeff Beck being inducted as a solo artist. It's as self-evident as just about anyone in there!

I think the general consensus was that he had a respectable discography and some good, if even great singles but that as a whole he never quite was a gamechanging Hall worthy icon.

Influence is very important to the Hall. While Joan Jett for instance seems to polarize people, the truth is that she's been namedroped by Dave Grohl, Josh Homme and Carrie Brownstein for a few as an influence. I've never heard an artist come out and namedrop Eddie Money.

Eddie Money made perfectly adequate meat 'n' potatoes 80s rock.

Not someone who ever interested me as an artist, but also not someone who made me angrily change radio stations.

Money is the kind of artist hardly anybody loves but also hardly anybody hates. He's too middle of the road to inspire passion!

Not even sure about John. His solo career was only about six years and not all his solo work was good or even well received. I think only Paul merits inclusion as a solo act. IMO.

Chubby popularized the limbo as well, a staple at many 60's house parties.

I feel like I've heard his name in passing very rarely, but I honestly don't know who Eddie Money is and couldn't name any of his songs

He recently died so that might explain why you've recently heard his name dropping

I'd heard of him before that, but I do remember an RIP thread now you mention it. It's always sad to see artists go and I did read up and saw that he was quite successful in the US for a while. He didn't make it at all here, but that's so often the case and vice versa.

He's quite good. Bit lighter and more soulful than Huey Lewis & The News but a similar vibe.

Del Shannon was a very talented singer and performer. His lack of sales later in his career does not diminish that talent. Check out his last two albums, including the Tom Petty-produced “Drop Down and Get Me” and “Rock On!” (to which Petty and other respected rock musicians contributed).

Darlene Love started in the early days of rock, distinguishing herself with passionate vocals, and revived her career later in life after suffering considerable setbacks. She has one of the best music autobiographies I have read. And she still has a powerful, soulful voice.

As for Bobby Darin, some assume that, because he covered many genres, he was merely flirting with rock and doesn’t deserve to stand in the company of the greats. In fact, he had so much talent that he refused to cabin himself in any genre. Take a look at this virtuoso performance:

What would Abbie Hoffman (Yippie) say?
    • I think the the 'Rock and Roll Hall of Fame' is a pile of s%#t, while John Sinclair rots in prison.
What would Pete Townshend say to that?

You can bet the house that the Partridge Family will never get induced as a "band".

    Can’t believe I read this....

Most of their albums are a delight to hear and they can run rings around the vast majority of musicians on both a technical and artistical level.
