Nice amp ! Those power supplies are why your amp has the control you speak of. Obviously it’s other good design choices , but those OPT are high quality . Enjoy
Thanks for your feedback to my little report. I appreciate it. I will post some pictures soon And comment on my little tube rolling as well.
Btw. Just to be fully correct. The name of my preamp is „Schiefele“. The spelling correction of my browser changed and misspelled that in my report on the ANK 300B amplifier.
The lineup is still improvised. Nevertheless, a few quick photos of the amp and its second biggest fan Hope you get an idea. Part 1:
Will Audio Note sell that amp as an assembled option as well? It seems to be priced quite reasonably for the quality of parts you're getting!
Someone quoted above $5400 for ANK assembled, but not sure if he was answering about the one just pic'd or not.
Does anyone have experience with Fezz Audio and their 300B model? Fezz Mira Ceti 300B - Fezz Audio - Made of Music
If you want, read my report from yesterday. I mentioned it there. I have also had it here and surely commented on it in the course of this thread. I don‘t know anymore which page of this thread it was. Probably rather somewhere at the beginning.
FWIW dept.: I'm really familiar with that 6SN7. IMO it is arguably the worst one made. JJ makes a better one (make sure it tests OK on the leakage test; FWIW most of those Sovtek tubes don't do well on that). The best we've heard that's in production is the Linlai. The best vintage is likely the KenRad, but you'll need to check with ANK to see if a GT version is suitable in that circuit.
Love the amp! And those naked transformers are sexy as hell! And your doggy is so cute! I love that IsoAcoustics platform too nice job zeitlos. And you can trust the advice of @Ralph Karsten one of the best designers of tube amps out there!
Thank you! Very interesting! Would you say the Linlai is better then the Ken Rad? And since I‘m not a technician. When you say “suitable“… could such a Tube damage the device? Or will it only result in a bad sound?
In general: What‘s different about the GT version? I assume that “not suitable“ would apply to every GT 6SN7 tube then, right?
The older GT and GTA 6SN7 tubes had a slightly lower plate voltage rating compared to the GTB versions. A circuit design could potentially (see what I did there?) base the design on the higher voltage capability of the GTB, which would stress GT/GTA tubes if substituted. In practice, I've never actually heard of an amp/preamp that couldn't happily accept either, but they could certainly exist. Ralph raises a good point and it never hurts to ask the vendor. Cheers, Robert
