Wow, what a great bunch of movies. Since I'm in a music mood today:
    Ghost World
    Monterey Pop
    Two Lane Blacktop
    Gimme Shelter
    McCabe & Mrs Miller

I saw Monterey Pop at a revival house in the 80s. At one point the film got stuck and burned up. "Great special effects" I thought until the screen went white and the house light came up.

    It most certainly is.
Soon I'll be making a comparison with the new 4K restoration from the Cohen Film Group, which now holds the rights to the Rohauer Library.
We'll see how it stacks up against the Kino edition, which looks amazing.

"Cohen Film Collection: The Rohauer Library is the successor in rights (in most cases, all rights throughout the world) to the listed motion pictures of Buster Keaton, D. W. Griffith, the films of Marcel Hellman, Herbert Wilcox, Pendennis Films, Ltd., the Paramount short film library and others. These exclusive licenses and contracts bring to the Collection original nitrates, camera negatives, prints and other materials unavailable elsewhere, to assure the best prints possible.

Under the stewardship, and guided by the vision of Charles S. Cohen, plans for the systematic preservation and restoration of the many classics in this unique film library will ensure that they are available to be enjoyed by generations to come. Through strategic partnerships with the most prestigious archives in the United States and abroad, film titles will be selected on an ongoing basis to undergo complete digital and, where appropriate, photochemical restoration, so that the best possible versions of these historic and entertaining films are available across all platforms of delivery."

Even allowing for personal tastes, only 2 mentions of Fritz Lang's M is not worthy.

Going slightly off topic, have you seen the 1951 remake? Though filmed in Hollywood it was made by the same producer as the original. It was on TCM a couple of weeks ago & I DVR'd it. I haven't watched it yet however.
