Hmm, seems 'Can't Wait Another Minute' is so good I named it twice. Don't know what happened there, tho' I do seem to recall Mrs K-G hovering around burbling about where we're going on holiday. Dammit, woman, can't you see I'm trying to make an important post on the Hoffman forum? :D

That Svetonio fellow has a lot on his mind.. well.

Computer Blue might be my favorite track. Purple Rain is one of the..

    personal essentials!
This is easier than trying to be objective. And the objective quality isn't all that interesting.

that wasn't directed at you ... there was a sudden explosion of people posting the pictures of their favourite bands albums, like it was a competition

    The whole Yes catalogue.

I think Steven Wilson did one fantastic job with remastering early Yes albums, gracing us with truly, not "only" musical, but also top sonic feast.

Wow. Seems like there are a number of residents here who have a VERY different idea of what "five-star album" means than I have.

    Can't argue with that logic.

    But, someone probably will.

[IMG]Most every great 5 star album has been mentioned (London Calling, Pet Sounds, et al) and on some level I agree with almost all. This one hasn't though. It, without doubt, set a standard for power pop that has not been equaled.

I catalog my music collection (and books, etc.) on LibraryThing, which lets you also rate them. Sorting by stars, I am presented with a list of all the "5-star" albums in my collection. A few:

    Emerson, Lake & Palmer (1970)
    Fleetwood Mac - Rumours (1976)
Harmonium - Si on avait besoin d'une cinquième saison (1975)
Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick (1972)
    King Crimson - Lizard (1970)
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here (1975)
Renaissance - Ashes Are Burning (1973)
    Rush - Moving Pictures (1981)
Yes - Close to the Edge (1972)

Yes, indeed. I do like some of his later albums like Beyond the Shrouded Horizon for example. I didn’t think much of Wolflight or The Night Siren however. Of his 90s albums, Guitar Noir and Darktown are my favorites.
