Just thought that I would remind everyone that 50 years ago TODAY, RCA started formal production on the first commercially availble Color Tv set, the CT-100.

The factory was in Bloomington Ill, I believe.

There are fewer than 50 of those sets left. Many of the those 50 work.

Restoring a CT-100 is an ENORMOUSLY complicated task. But the filmlike quality of the picture is worth it. So, tonight, when you turn on your modern, ic based color TV, give a thought to its great grandfather....with 36 tubes and a 15 inch picture tube!!!

Back when Jay Leno was funny, one of his monlogues revolved around Jay getting his parents a new TV. They never got a color one, because they were "waiting for it to be perfected". They never used to remote control that he got for them becuse "they were afraid that it would start a fire"!!

I'd love to see one of those CT-100's in action; Steve has posted some pics, but I am sure that they don't do the set justice.
