In the right context, the saxophone is a marvelous instrument, as shown in jazz music, but also in rock. Now I'm in the mood for some really cool rock tunes with explosive saxophone, skronk 'n all! Preferably from the 50's and onward to the 70's. It can be everything from rock 'n roll to avant prog.

No cheesy 80's saxophones please! ;)

the mother of all tributes to Diddley, featuring a bit of sax. Of course, it was never released (not even on the Promise set)
One can only imagine how Clarence Clemons would have sounded live

Great thread idea. The sax pretty much made this early one.

My favorite Stones/Bobby Keys is Casino Boogie. Relatively simple, only one note for most of it, but the timing a phrasing is impeccable. Another favorite is Andy MacKay on John Cale's Darling I Need You. Unfortunately not on You Tube.

Any thread about sax breaks would be incomplete without the Asbury Jukes getting a mention?
