    I just popped in the Robin Hood DVD. The documentary "Glorious Technicolor" doesn't, unfortunately, explain the derivation of the term "lily." It only mentions the term in passing in a reminiscence from one of the munchkins from Wizard of Oz. Excellent documentary though.

    edit: Esther Willams also mentions the lily. She said she used to wonder what Lana Turner was doing while she (Williams) was holding the lily.
