If this track is not on any other previously released Archive set I bet it'll be on either the deluxe London Town or Back To The Egg.

I'm hoping it is, but the reasoning behind it completely escapes me......

When Giles Martin remixed Sgt. Pepper’s, I didn’t think he did a good job. He made the album too loud rendering it an uncomfortable listening experience.

I wasn’t the only unhappy audiophile.

But because he was George Martin’s son, I gave him a pass, ticking it as his learning curve.

How’s the White Album remix? I’m sad to say it’s not Giles coming of age effort - it’s as unlistenable as Sgt. Pepper’s. He again pushed all the knobs to the maximum making every instrument equally loud that you can’t hear them individually. It’s like being in a pressure-filled, bass-heavy, screeching treble chamber!

I know Apple wants to keep everything in the family, so to speak, but an outsider could bring a new and better listening experience.

I don’t enjoy criticizing, believe me, but it’s The Beatles and their music should be done properly: we always listen to it!

If there’s any doubt someone else could do a better job, listen to an EMI produced Evolution by the Hollies against a Bob Irwin (Sundazed) effort - the difference is night and day!

I actually prefer most of 2018 remixes over the 1968 mixes. To each his own!

How did you hear the remixes? Vinyl, CD, download or streaming?

In this case, do you mean the 5.1 mix?

I bought the set solely for the 5.1 mix and I’m very happy with it.

  16. I'm happy we have both and to my ears through my system, 2018 vinyl and BluRay are more enjoyable.

The 5.1 mix is staggering.....I'd hate for anyone to be deterred. Listen for yourselves (don't stream it). This is the best thing Giles has done.

I get the feeling that a lot of grousing comes from it simply not sounding the same or like a "clearer" version of what already exists. Sure, there's legitimate complaints about compression (which I tend to dismiss knowing their compressor abuse in the '60s, but that's audiophile nitpicking at its finest and an opinion I can at least understand and rationalize), but I honestly haven't seen many complaints that aren't just "Well, whiffed again, Giles, doesn't sound like what it's 'supposed' to sound like."

Why would one want another of the same thing that already exists? Isn't that what, y'know, the original is for...?

"Awww, I spent $136 for the new version, and all I got was a new version..." :blah:
