Funny, but before reading this thread I would have assumed that both Kiss and Frank Zappa were drug monsters.….

Lenny was "educational" to Randy in the sense that he served as an example of what happens to a brilliant musician who does too many drugs. Randy took guitar lessons from Breau early on in his career, which he drew from later on ("Undun" comes to mind). When Bachman was in his Guess Who hit record heyday, Lenny was still playing small clubs whacked out on LSD, smack, Darvon or some combination thereof. Lenny's story is a jazz tragedy to rival Eric Dolphy's and few others. Randy avoided that.

Ah...I took your comment to mean that maybe Breau "educated" him as in "introduced him to"...I see what you mean.

Rick Wakeman? Don’t know if he never took drugs but says he wasn’t a user. But he could drink! I saw him at Madison Square Garden. Many empty beer bottles on top of key boards.

I remember reading a few books that hinted that Elvis did smoke herb in the 50's on occasion. There's also footage of him at Graceland with something that looked like a joint. (It's the video with the guy wearing a monkey mask sitting on his lap). There's also the LSD story that Priscilla had told a couple times.

Eddie Fisher is right out of the running. I heard his daughter (RIP) say he is a real viper.

I think that no man or woman in 60’s, 70’s and 80’s who never tray weed or cocaine,. Especially in show business Heroin is something else. Cocaine to mid 80’s , many people think cocaine like weed. 90’s-nowdays new drugs. Sintetic drugs today

I can confim that the Maels are completely teetotal, and Ron is vegetarian. The identity of the substance he's sipping in the When I'm With You video is unknown, but I'm hoping it's apple juice.

Bachman was (is?) a practicing Mormon, which also explains why he abstained.

And looking at some early '60's 45 pic sleeves o' him, he had a look about him as wiry as another Johnny during the depths of his own drug addictions - a certain Mr. Cash.

Wasn't she also a cokehead for a time in that decade? I seem to remember reading the Elton John/Kiki Dee song "Snow Queen" was written about Cher as Bernie Taupin had encountered her.

That I do not know. But based on the details of her conversation with Gene, I'd guess probably not. Cher is too smart for that nonsense.

Yeah, with Gerry she wrote "The Porpoise Song", "Pleasant Valley Sunday", "Star Collector", "Take a Giant Step" (outside your mind), and "Wasn't Born to Follow" --- pretty hip stuff.
