Deirdre Wilson Tabac, "Get Back" I was going to post Junior Parker's awesome version of "Tomorrow Never Knows" but it came out in 1970. Worth seeking out.
I always preferred Billy J Kramer's version of Do You Want To Know a Secret to The original. Faster and rocked up a bit, the Dakotas were a good group. His first hit and a UK #1. And of course, Joe Cocker's With a Little Help From My Friends.
I think The Hollies could have done better but their cover of "If I Needed Someone" gave George his first chart hit as a songwriter. #20 in the UK in 1965. The song probably would have peaked higher if George hadn't been so critical of it in the media at that time.
So, so good. I also love Cocker’s She Came in Through the Bathroom Window and Something. That dude was a KILLER interpreter of the Fabs.
I came here specifically to post this same thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0y8Q2PATVyI Featuring the great Duane Allman on guitar, his coming out party.
One of my favorites is the Carpenters' version of Ticket To Ride. Originally released on their 1969 debut album, Offering. It became a Top 100 single in early 1970. The album was retitled to Ticket To Ride after their initial success with Close To You. Karen and Richard sing all vocals, Richard on the keyboards and Karen on the drums.
I love The Mamas & The Papas. Their cover of I Call Your Name from their 1966 debut album is definitive for me. Audio from the lp they lip synched to on American Bandstand.
