A great paper about ground loops and noise in audio circuits

I was investigating a 'hum' in my audio system and came upon this paper which provides a lot of great information to help understand and resolve noise issues, some of it above my head.

It was an Ethernet cable that gave me the problem after pulling out what little hair I still have left 'in search for the mischievous hum'!!!

Dressing my interconnects, getting them away from 'insulated' power cables, helped too.

There is still a slight hum on my phono preamp when I crank the gain to 66db but it can't be heard when a record is playing.

I followed the suggestions where possible.
