    Wow!
    I always thought it was
"Some like to eat, some masticate"
I mean, not as a kid.
I thought this was actually the correct lyrics.

Despite sheet music books and lyric sheets to the contrary I never misheard The Rolling Stones Star Star lyric as:

You were starbucker, starbucker, starbucker, starbucker star.........

Well now I'm always going to hear it that way!

And since lettuce has been used to suggest mary jane, a lettuce lamp could be lighting a pipe of grass, so it's actually quite a reasonable thing to hear!

One more (maybe a old one) regarding the Beatles `Till there was you:
After the line "there were sweet fragrant meadows" (that one took me years to understand as neither fragrant nor meadows were words featured in my english class in school) Paul sings "of Don and you". That Don guy sure must`ve been a rival of the singer, similar to the guy John asks in another song to better leave his kitten alone. Was there are secret feud between Paul and Don Everly about a girl?

Camila Cabelo's "Never Be The Same" was on the radio all the time a while back and what I heard was:

    Nicotine touching me, brushing me
Slabs of meat on my feet
    Paula Deen, Paula Deen

This is an obscurity. But in the Velvet Underground's "Over You" (from the 1969 live album), I thought the last line in the bridge was "I've been chasing lesson-less rainbows." Turns out it's "I've been chasing less and less rainbows."

I first heard this at 17 and assumed "lesson-less" was a word. I assumed it meant things that didn't teach you a lesson you should have learned. I like my idea better than what the line actually is.

Love Is A Battlefield - Pat Benatar

    Correct lyrics:
    "Oh, touch me deep inside"

    What I heard:
    "Oh, touch me dear Vincent"

Not very funny, but that's how I heard it.

    Disorder - Joy Division

    Correct Lyrics:
"I've been waiting for a guide to take me by the hand
Cause these sensations make me feel the pleasures of a normal man"

    What I heard:
"I've been waiting for a guy to take me by the hand
Cause these sensations make me feel the pleasures of another man"

    I know...

From Jethro Tull's "Critique Oblique" off a Passion Play, I long heard a line as: "Actor of the low IQ, let's hear your view."

I eventually decided that probably wasn't the correct lyrics and looked up the actual line, which is "Actor of the low-high Q, let's hear your view." Which then caused me to look up what "Q" meant for actors ...

You can dance, you can die.
Having the time of your life.

I was a bit disappointed to learn it was actually:
You can dance, you can jive.
Having the time of your life.

Somebody told me it was Mercedes Benz
The Benz, a condition you get when you go in too deep water.

    I don't know.

  18. Madonna - Ray of Light.

I heard, "And I feel, like I just got home" as "And I feel, like a disco ball."

And this was before middle age hearing loss commenced.

Speaking of "Dancing Queen", I've always heard
"where they play the White music..."
I looked it up on Google, it's "where they play the right music..." :)

Also always heard "the kid's a Dancing Queen", it's "Digging the Dancing Queen..."

Adam Ant’s “Apollo 9” contains this:

Hey hey what do you say?
Had me a woman she flew away
    Climbed onto the nearest star
Miss her lots, but there you are.
Hey hey what do you say?
    Choochalaben dollaley
You can run, you won't get far
    a-leyben in your capella

I misheard the last lines as “You can run, you won’t get far, I’ll leave it in your caviar.”

Which at least made sense to me, in a weird “I’ll trap you into becoming the mother of my child” way - not knowing what all that business about a capella was about.

"Run Rudolph Run" by Chuck Berry has a weird lyric at the start, at least the way I hear it:

Out of all the reindeer, you know you're the mastermind
Run, run, Rudolph, Randolph ain't too far behind

The cover versions I've heard over the years all say "Santa ain't too far behind," which makes more sense than what I heard Chuck sing. Even now, it still sounds as if he's singing about the previously unknown Randolph the reindeer.

Way back when, I hear Herb Alpert on the radio crooning:

"They say the sky, the sky's in love with you..."

Huh? What the hell is that supposed to mean?

Later: Oh, "This guy's in love with you."

    In "Bennie and the Jets"

"...I read it in the back of a Peanuckle", never could figure out what that meant

Real- "I read it in a magazine oh oh..."
