Seemed like a sweet guy. He was someone I always saw having grown up in L.A. Honestly thought he was long gone. RIP.

Nice tribute from KTLA 5 his home since the beginning. I watched his Popeye show and he would give shout-outs to the animators I knew nothing about.
He did a Christmas show at the Pasadena Playhouse as a narrator a few ago. Always made me smile.

Oh wow, I remember him so fondly from my childhood. Our cable provider carried all the LA indie stations in the 70s and early 80s and I used to watch his Saturday cartoon and movie shows all the time. Really seemed like a friend to me.

Countless wonderful hours watching him on KTLA in the 1950s and 60s.

  9. I have no idea who this dude was, but if anyone kicks it at 92 that's not sad, it's a triumph!

Awww, grew up with Tom, Popeye and his squiggles watching him on channel 5 in the 1960s. Another part of my childhood is gone. RIP, Tom.

Bummer, he always came across as a nice guy. I miss all the old LA channels we used to get (KTLA - KCOP...) - and the interesting personalities (entertainment and news) they used to have.

I just saw Tom in an episode of "Gomer Pyle" on Me TV. Nice to see him one "last time".
    Again, RIP Tom.
