Abbey Road 50th Anniversary Discussion. What Can We Expect?

Old Wave is a play on the term New Wave.

I just realized that. It's been a decade since I first heard the album and I only just realized that.

 

Or a Lennon box set (PLEASE either POB, MG or W&B)

 

The box should contain:
- a copy of the -2/-1 UK LP from the original metal parts;
- a copy of the Pro-Use Japanese LP;
- a copy of the MFSL LP.
- a lot of CDs with session tracks.

 

I hope Abbey Road 50 is a square box that fits in nicely with Pepper 50. I wish The Beatles 50 had been that way, too.

 

You joke now, but someday that barrel will be the only one left to scrape.

 

Tight cooperage? Or slack cooperage? Bung hole or not? How about the bilge?

I wonder what the new Box is? Mike C said it’s a secret. We sort of already know about Abbey Road and Let it be as real probabilities(as they have been hinted at by our insiders). London Town/Back to egg box has been hinted at for late 2019. I’m thinking it’s a Ringo Apple box, another Lennon Imagine type box, or maybe just maybe they squeeze another Beatles remix/outtake set out for Christmas. A few months after Abbey Road a few months before Let it Be. Maybe they squeeze in Rubber Soul or Revolver? Let’s face it Universal/Apple know that time is running out for these big sets! They need to make their money while they can!

Been trying to figure out what @mikecarrera has been working on! I think Abbey /LiB and the Wings sets are expected and just waiting for confirmation. Would love for more Lennon sets in the Ultimate Edition style of Imagine from last year . An All Things Must Pass set is another one I really want, but would make more sense next year for it's 50th. A George anthology would be amazing though. Anything else would be a surprise, so not sure what it could be. Or if its Beatles/Solo. A live video collection including Washington, Shea, Budokan etc ?! The Cartoons?(!) A new version of Anthology? Trying to think what else is on my Beatles wish list that isn't a deluxe album set since we seem to be sticking to coinciding with anniversaries and we know LiB is coming next year. But it's always fun to speculate and hopefully it wont be long before we find out!

 

The Beatles facebook page did just update it's profile pic and header... but I feel like they just went with some neutral pics. I think the current choices have no project behind them and instead will change once more when the time comes to start announcing Abbey Road.
