I assume, as John's Imagine Ultimate set was successful, there will come a deluxe box set for John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band?

Another possibility for the secret box set: Isn't the Yellow Submarine album 50th anniversary this year? I know it was back in January, but still... They could even throw in the MMT orphans.

If they skipped a box for MMT I can't see them doing one for YS, which has even less original songs. It would be great if they did a combo box with all the orphans like you said, but since both of the films are still in print and easily available, I doubt we'll get more, especially sonce I have a feeling that they are still seen as EPs (mmt) or glorified EPs with someone else's music included (YS) in the ryes of the remaining fabs.

If Yellow Submarine hadn't been remastered (the movie) it'd definitely happen this year, but it's already been remastered in 4K on blu-ray and online and the album itself is their most minor canon release by far to many, so I don't see it happening ever.

The difference is, Yellow Submarine is an original UK album, MMT not. I don't think any of them will get a SDE (or a two-fer for that matter), but it's the best speculation I could come up with :sigh:

Hopefully it winds up being something totally unexpected but something we actually want!

I dunno, I think smaller MMT & YS remix releases could be possible. Maybe 3 discs each with the remixed album as disc 1, outtakes on disc 2, and a Blu-ray audio disc as disc 3. Nothing too fancy, but enough to mark those albums and get the remixes out there.

Maybe once they change the Working Class Hero songwriting credit to Lennon/Ono. :)

Or better merge both John's and Yoko's Plastic Ono Band albums in one set plus studio outtakes, this would do fine I think.

They could have done that with Imagine and Fly, but they chose not to.

I don't know Fly but was it recorded during John's Imagine sessions, too?
The two Plastic Ono Band albums really can be a double album together, soundwise, as both were recorded at the same sessions in 1970 (apart of that track with Ornette Coleman).

As long as they don't rearrange the track orders to alternate between John & Yoko.

I mean, heartplays are fine for the 80's, but don't go screwing around with classic albums' flow.

Of course not. Just the original albums but packed together in a set.
Disc 1: John, Disc 2: Yoko, Disc 3: Outtakes from John and Yoko's solo album sessions.

Before the White Album box came out I thought they might do a small 2 CD/1 Blu-ray 1967-68 box with these 17 songs (and maybe include some additional jamming or demos or even a little more from Sgt Pepper):

    - Carnival Of Light
    - Only A Northern Song
    - All You Need Is Love/Baby You're A Rich Man
    - All Together Now
    - It's All Too Much
    - Hello Goodbye
    - Magical Mystery Tour EP: Magical Mystery Tour, Fool On The Hill, Blue Jay Way, Flying, Your Mother Should Know, I Am The Walrus
    - February 1968 sessions: Lady Madonna, The Inner Light, Across The Universe, Hey Bulldog
    - Yellow Submarine soundtrack by George Martin (optional)

Since Lady Madonna, The Inner Light and Across The Universe came out on the White Album, I don't know what their plan is unless they are still going to do a box like this and include some additional sessions for those same tracks. Or maybe include most of this stuff in a big Past Masters box which is possible but doesn't really make sense if you are including the singles that were recorded along with album sessions at the time in other boxes (such as Paperback Writer and Rain being included with a Revolver box).
