McCartney on The Late Show (Colbert...CBS) tonight. I'm sure Abbey Road will be part of it.

Hope this isn't a repeated post...apologies if it is.

I've just gotten a 20 year term life policy, which ensures i'll live at least that long :) But will my ears work? Will I care? Maybe I'll only enjoy chasing kids off my lawn.

I listened to Breakfast With The Beatles. Almost all the outtakes were simply awesome IMO.. I Want You (She’s So Heavy), Ballad Of John And Yoko, Old Brown Shoe, Here Comes The Sun and especially The Long One. Maxwell’s Silver Hammer was ok but didn’t thrill me like the others did, still will be glad to have another version in my arsenal.

The Long One is absolutely awesome. LOVE the (what I assume is) vintage mixing.

What is the edit in "The Long One" that you speak of?

I'm confused by this. Take 36 is presented in this box for the first time. It has never been on any bootleg.
How do you know there's any jam at the end of it at all?
Take 30 (basis for the released version) and take 36 (unused basic take) have nothing in common. Or what am I missing here?

Thanks. His article mentions that the 3Cd deluxe set contains more outtakes than the vinyl edition.
Is this correct? Which tracks are missing from the vinyl?

JPC has the 'Japanese Import' vinyl-versions for sale; is there any (pressing) difference with the standard 1LP or 3 LP-versions (except for the odd obi-strip?)

Yep.. it strikes me that the really scrappy outtakes - the ones you mention, plus Carnival of Light, the 27 minute Helter Skelter, the aimless jams from mid 1967 etc are being left out of these box-sets partly via band politics, partly to leave some "powder dry" for a future project... and an online subscription makes sense as a home for that.

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple has a rough roadmap for at least the early-mid 20s, and a subscription service for outtakes is at the end of it.. at the risk of sounding morbid, possibly kept back for once all the band members are no longer with us - as a final BIG legacy project.

Abbey Road 50th Anniversary Remix Full Review!

"The graphics-free cover broke new packaging ground. The iconic photo said “The Beatles” better than any typeface could and in retrospect the message that the “boys” were exiting the building literally and figuratively couldn’t have been any clearer."

The Rolling Stones debut LP would like a word

"This limited edition Deluxe vinyl box set features all 40 tracks from the Super Deluxe collection on three 180-gram vinyl LPs. The album’s new stereo mix LP is packaged in a faithfully replicated sleeve, with the two Sessions LPs paired in their own jacket, presented with a four-page insert in a lift-top box. Giles Martin, working with Sam Okell, from the original eight-track session tapes, was guided by the album’s original mix supervised by his father, George Martin."

Gen X here. Every new generation discovers the Beatles and that will never change.
