In Nashville, TN, we have roundabouts, and that's what we call them.

John Barrett's notes say the tape of RS1 was still in the archive (as of 1983), and that "one copy of RS1" was "taken and cut out for P.M.". Lewisohn concurs.

Thank you for this post! My 3 LP box arrived today but I have not cracked the shrink as yet. I specifically wanted to read an opinion on the US vs EU versions, I went in 3 pages back expecting the usual "nothing to do with the title" drivel that all Beatles threads seem to turn into on this site and there was your post!

I do not like Optimal at all, every record from that factory I own is rubbish quality and covered in scratches. Also, the biggest issue for me, PAPER INNERS!! I bought the Eu box because it was cheaper and I read about the "swooshing" on the US version. Plus the Eu version of the white album remix seemed to favour the Eu pressing over the Quality pressing.

The reason I was thinking about it is because of the Quality pressed The Doors double 45 and Hendrix records I own. Apart from having mofi-like sleeves which I love, the copies I own have far less scratches than the crappy Optimal records I own. Seriously, they should bd called Sub-Par, not Optimal.

I have 3 copies of Rubber Soul mono for instance, all with heavy scratching and what almost looks like finger print like scratches from what I can only assume was steel wool gloves! This is common for me. There is also the mark across the lead in and through the first 2 or so tracks from what looks like the machine that drops the records into the sleeves. EVERY ONE I own has that!! I do not understand why the hell companies keep using them! What the hell happened to the SONY Japan record plessing plant???? Victor should teach these rubbish, modern record pressing companies how to make quiet vinyl. Then also teach them how to press and package!

Down South it’s a pavement that runs alongside the road for pedestrians to walk on. I’ve never heard of the pavement being referred to as a footway. Down here we step off the pavement to cross the road. Carry on

Come on, guys, all this pavement talk is taking this "Old Brown Shoe" thread way off topic!

    "Wake up, meat head
Don't pretend that you are dead
Get yourself up off the cart"

Love Harrison's slide in that song...and Ringo's drumming as well.

Finished listening to the first cd last night. Love the detail, separation, and bass. Very, very enjoyable. Bravo Giles, and team!

I bought the album in 69 so I've heard it many times. When I collected and played records the UK first pressing just blew me away each time I heard it.
Every time I listen to the black triangle CD I can envision the master tape being played back on a reel to reel.
I really like the new remix. I'm not quite sure how to describe it yet, at least how I hear it. It has an open and airy sound that I like. It makes a great alternative listen from the original mix.

That's 'cos you don't work in the highway industry. It's a bizarre circumstance: legally and professionally, it's a footway. And yet, pretty much no-one outside those professions knows this or uses the terminology.

Isn't that Ringo shouting "Brothers and sisters!" before the drums exploded at the end of disc 2? Sounds much like his outburst about blisters in the WA.
