I just recently purchased 'The Best Of Abbott & Costello, Volume 1' on DVD and had a problem with the picture breaking up and freezing on side 2 of disc 1. I sent it back to Amazon and they sent me a replacement. Same problem. Does anyone else have this set and did you have a problem? If so, how did you handle it? I looked around one or two DVD sites and I see that someone had a problem with the same thing back in March. Thanks for any help! Gene
Could be the whole batch. Check the serial numbers on the DVDs. Ask them to send you one from another source. Failing that, get your money back and contact the vendor. Good Luck.
Could this be another one of those player conflict things? You'd think by now this sort of thing would have been taken care of. Especially as there isn't anything odd or high tech about these discs. What bothers me is, there have been a slew of problems with Universal DVD's lately. I've heard a whole bunch of stories about defective, and/or damaged copies of the Universal Monsters series from a few months ago. Makes me a bit nervous about that Marx Brothers set they have coming this fall.
It seems some folks have had problems with ever Abbott and Costello set. It's never been resolved as to if this is a defect or player compatability. I have all three and haven't had a problem on a number of Pioneer and Panasonic players. Jonathan
Sorry Michael. I got impatient and sent them back already. They sent me an email saying something like it seems like an ongoing problem and rather than send me another replacement, they were going to refund my card.
Jonathan, I played it on a Panasonic and a Samsung and had the same problem. Oddly, I haven't had a problem with Volume 2. Just side 2 of disc 1 from Volume 1. Twice. Volume 3 is on the way and I tried getting Volume 1 again from a different vendor. We'll see what happens with that.
Hey guys.... Looks like the third time's the charm. I just got my THIRD copy of The Best Of Abbott & Costello, Volume 1 and I FINALLY have one with no problem. I tried a different on line vendor assuming that they got a different batch. Right or wrong, it plays with no problem. Sigh.
