    From what I have read, speakers should be spiked to a stable surface to avoid any movement. Rubber/Poly/Resin based feet may isolate but won’t keep the speaker from moving which will encourage smearing and other undesirable results. Especially subwoofers which will move even more reducing the effective tightness in the bass extension. Although this can be conclusive to only subtle differences, it would be the correct choice. Do you agree?

    I have seen and read lots on spiked feet costing form little to stupidly expensive. Many insist that brass is the best (sure thing) material to use effectively. For a floor standing speaker like a Parker or a Hornshop does the size of the spike matter much? Some are larger brass spikes like this one;

    *Black chromed solid brass cones
    $19/set of 4 from Parts Express

    Polycrystal-coated solid brass cones
    $77/set of 4 from PolyCrystal

    and there are much smaller once like this on:

    *painted metal
    $7/set of 4 from Parts Express

    * Polycrystal-coated solid brass cones
    $37/set of 4 from PolyCrystal

    I personally like the smaller ones; they look effective and are of a small profile.
    Will they perform as well?

    Spikes on Components:
    Overwhelming opinion is to use a Rubber/Poly/Resin foot on a component to isolate it, over a spike. However, the people at Mapleshade insist that the use of spikes into a Maple platform or shelve is best.

    Polycrystal Isolation Resin isolators
    $54/set of 3

    Mapleshade Isoblock

    $24/set of 4

    Mapleshade Component and Speaker footers
    http://www.mapleshaderecords.com/tweaks/footers.php
    $30 to $60/set of 3

    I’ve been using simple rubber feet under my components on top of a heavy professional AV equipment rack with metal (steel) shelves that are sturdy (and heavy).

    I’m likely going to sit a Maple isolation platform on each metal shelve and then sit the components on top of this.

    What’s recommended First between the Maple Isolation board and the metal shelve and Second, between the component and the Maple board?
