I normally love Diament's masterings, but Let There Be Rock and If You Want Blood should be avoided IMO. The rest are great.

Yeah, from the list, it looks like he may not have done Let There Be Rock. I haven't heard If You Want Blood, so thanks for the tip.

Both of my old Ludwig Back In Black's are kinda noisy Geroge (to be expected, they were probably partied on, used as Frisbee's, puked on etc...) So I found an oddball old DADC last week for dirt cheap, should have next week :)

Nice! I use my 20P2 (same mastering) to test out my stereo, whenever I make changes, especially that first track.

I'm not amazed at the 24/96 versions of AC/DCs catalog, via streaming.
Sure, certain aspects are fine -- like soundstage. They sound kinda off, though. I don't know what it is. But through my headphones, it just isn't very cool. Maybe I should use the system and jack it up a bit.

Could you guys specify the release dates of the above remasters by Barry Diament?
(I'm not sure it will be possible to get them in all cases on Discogs)

They may actually be louder than the 2003 versions. Quite some feat.

We also have the original Albert mastering forever. They are the best to date IMO.

There is no consistently good digital mastering of AC/DC's original back catalogue. They all have issues with either sources or mastering.

These high def hot messes are just the latest in a long line.

Even Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap? I somehow remember reading elsewhere that the only good mastering for that one was on the first Australian CD pressing (Albert Productions label). Since it's hard to find and crazy expensive, I never purchased any version of this album. I would be very happy to learn otherwise.

I don't know why on earth they can't make Hi Res versions out of the Australian masters

Much better sounding than the International counterparts

I have the remasters. I can listen to them but they are not very good in regards to sound quality. I will have to pass on the 24 bit versions. I doubt they will be much of an improvement.

looks like only one of these showed up on HDTracks: Back in Black.

based on the responses here, I'll not be looking elsewhere.

    What about dynamic range R128.?

But insanely expensive. I see them on eBay all the time and the prices are beyond stupid. The Diament discs are way more cost effective than some of those Albert discs.

I suppose if you can't find them now it is impossible for those of us in North America. I was just saying that there have been decent masterings of their best albums. I had the Diament discs, overpaid for Japan versions in some cases  before I got the Albert discs for a great price from a member here.

I definitely prefer the track listings, artwork and sound of the Australian AC/DC albums.

And what about other aspects of sound?
    Anyone.?

They show up on eBay fairly often but any AC/DC album gets huge attention from bidders so the price is always going to end up huge hell even the '03 remasters garner stupid high prices. I have seen people sell complete sets of Albert discs for $20,000.

That was a very brief emotional rollercoaster !

I don't know why I was still thinking they might want to give us well-mastered files but thanks everyone for the quick update

Bummer . . . how do we know this? Were the '03 versions mastered in 24/96?
