I wish they would do Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here with the quality that SHM has done some stuff on SACD and Platinum CD. Go back to good source tapes and just make flat transfers. As stated, if it's just a repackaging of the 2011 mastering, I'll pass. For me, Dark Side of the Moon would need to be a better mastering than the first Sony mastering.

Another thing too - didn't Analog Productions already do Wish You Were Here on stereo/5.1 SACD a few years back?

Which mastering of the quad mix didn’t you like, WYWH or DSOTM? I thought the Parson’s DSOTM sounded brill on the Blu-ray.

  4. Technically that Wish You Were Here SACD was EMI's SACD, prepared by Pink Floyd themselves. They got Acoustic Sounds to exclusively distribute it because EMI had no interest in releasing a SACD version of the album. The major American labels have hated SACD as a format for nearly a decade, leaving smaller labels and foreign divisions to issue them.

I have to assume this new AP SACD is a mere reissue of the original SACD.

The book sleeve for that SACD release looked cool.

Thanks Lucidae, now I don't have to Hunt/Track down another CD purchase!

  13. I think everyone needs to calm down. I'm sure the Floyd management want to see how these first two sell. If they sell well, then this is the time for the other titles to be released a few at a time. I was kind of anticipating a deal like this going down. Let's all be patient and see how this plays out. Realistically, this is the only way Floyd Hybrid-Multi-Channel SACD's are going to be released, so, I think the prospects for at least a program of top sellers/collectors wants is in the pipeline.

Curious about the PINK FLOYD sacds. I have the box sets with the Blu-Ray audio discs.

makes you wonder what ever happened with THE WALL? It was mentioned how many years ago has it been close to 8? that they were still working on The Wall... It would be strange if they weren't able to create multi channel mixes for the album by now.

  16. I think they are still working on it. Remember, the audio guys on staff have other Floyd projects, plus their own "solo" work and outside work. Projects like these take time, especially if the tapes were scattered, in bad condition, restoration, etc. There's a lot more to these processes than most people take into consideration.

Considering how long Amused to death took this would be right in line. But it would be nice to hear updates.

The Wall in 5.1 would be nice but I'm still holding out hope for Animals to be released in 5.1.

If there will be a proper release of the Meddle 5.1 mix (and high res stereo mix) I hope it'll also be on DVD/BluRay since it's physically (and legally) impossible to rip audio content off SACDs.

It might be legally impossible, but it certainly isn't physically impossible to rip audio content off of SACDs.

Sure. But the list of equipment that is capable of doing this only grows over time. Blu Ray is certainly easier to rip, but I bet it isn't easy for most since it requires a blu ray drive, the right software, etc. For what it's worth, I'm set up to rip Blu Ray, but not SACD, myself.
