Agreed. Even Bandcamp is now charging tax to Wa on downloads.
AS was supposed to be charging sales tax in several states for nearly a year before they implemented it. It sucks for us but would suck more if the IRS came knocking on their door
"Per state law" are the operative words. Some states make online retailers collect sales taxes now, even if the retailer isn't physically located in the state. Other states don't. It's entirely a function of state sales tax law.
Not the IRS, state tax authorities.
It’s been so long since I got a tax free etailer purchase, I just assumed those days were long gone for everyone.
Come to New Hampshire, they don’t have either. The winter weather may be a culture shock to you, unless you’ve relocated south.
I grew up in England and Minnesota so the cold wouldn't be a total shocker
If we don't get at least some discount for Easter, I'm gonna start getting stroppy....
I'm curious if they are really selling as much as they used to. Personally, I've made my last 3 purchases through other online independent stores since AS removed all discounts. It's a competitive market with hundreds of retailers now (not just Amazon, Target, etc). It's not hard to find other places offering at least 10-15% off retail.
They are running 10% off in-stock items but specifically exclude Analogue Productions, MOFI, Impex, and anything else that says discounts do not apply.
Doesn't leave much for non vinyl fans.
I got quite excited when I saw the email pop up, only to find it that out of the $1k of records in my cart (no I’m not buying them all, at least not at once), I got a discount of $6. Most of their non AP, MoFi, and Impex titles can be had for cheaper elsewhere, even with the 10% discount factored in.
Same here, quite disappointed.
Someone get them to change that. Just email them and say they don’t care about emancipation or dads. I’d give it an hour before the email goes out to change the discount to site-wide.
Speakers Corner and Pure Pleasure titles are included, so I'm able to grab something.
Figures, these recent discounts from online sellers are always for things their trying to get rid of, and things you don't want.
The days of decent sales/discounts seems
to have ended with AS, MD and ED.
Free shipping on orders above a certain dollar value is about all they offer these days
10% is back, restrictions still apply, over at Acoustic Sounds.
I think their inflationary attitude on discounts will sadly backfire on them and they will have to start all over again from the bottom especially if interest wanes.
I have been a regular buyer from all 3 of them but offering me only the crumbs made me search elsewhere.
Applies to Acoustic Sounds series though.
Agreed. I don’t think it will be long before the sales return. Everything on their current “sale” you can still get cheaper elsewhere.
AS has either staffed up the operation big time, or they are slowing way down. My last few orders have gone out in a day or two. It was taking two weeks back in January.
But still more expensive than Amazon et al.
Even with the discount, those records are still like $6 more than Amazon/Target.
Elusive Disc has a similar sale, 10% Off, code JULY10
It says usual exclusions apply, but almost every SACD I put in my cart, Impex, Analogue Productions, MoFi, accepted the discount code.
The only one that didn't was Miles Davis Porgy and Bess
True, if they're in stock.
Until everybody is out spending their disposable income on holidays and what-not again, vinyl sales will stay up, and discounts will be few.
At least you guys up north seem to have herd immunity in your sights.
Vaccination program down here is winning awards for utter incompetence...
