In Acoustic Sounds new catalog, which I received yesterday, it states that Matt is the new Cutting Engineer at Acoustic Sounds new Blue Heaven Studios. Is this the same Matt who is the resident Sinatra expert on this forum? If so, congratulations Matt! Blue Heaven will use the equipment purchased from Doug Sax's famed Mastering Lab.

I'll bet it is. I've seen posts of his discussing how he has done work in L.A. on stuff he can't specifically name.

It will be interesting to see what album he will work on first.

Coincidentally, I read through the AS mailer this morning, and was going to post this! Nice to see one of our "own" moving into mastering too!

Congratulations Matt! He has been such a great help and resource to me in all things Sinatra. His knowledge and experience is right up there with the best of them. Couldn’t happen to a better guy. Looking forward to see what’s on the agenda. Keep us posted!

Thanks for the kind words, and yes, I am very happily employed by Acoustic Sounds / The Mastering Lab, and have been working at getting the system ready off and on since October of 2017, but not talking about it publicly. Getting to work on Doug's system, which is largely "one of a kind" (and quirky beyond belief) is a real thrill; getting it all figured out and working on all cylinders has been incredibly challenging!

I've been away from the forum for the last month or so, but will be around here when I can, although I probably will not be at liberty to discuss ongoing projects, for professional reasons. I really hope that people are pleased with the work that comes out of The Mastering Lab in the months and years ahead.

For the time being, no, but may do so in the not-too-distant future. I have, historically, spent a lot of time in Nebraska (grandfather from Scribner, family and friends in Omaha, La Vista, and Wisner), getting back to visit a couple of times a year, so I am quite comfortable in the midwest. Such things will shake out as the re-boot of the The Mastering Lab moves forward.

Congrats Matt!! The mastering world clearly needs more discerning ears and tasteful judgment calls such as you will make, and I wish you all the best!

Matt, I don't play new vinyl anymore, but I wonder if your work will show up in digital.
