Hey, Jackie Chan in Twin Dragons, where he plays identical twin brothers... only one of which is a kung-fu expert.

  3. I saw this trailer before a screening of Mandy last year. That was one hell of a surreal night at the movies, I tell ya. o_O

Not a movie but Sheryl Lee played two different characters in the original Twin Peaks TV series: Laura Palmer and also Laura's cousin Maddy.

O , I don't think Madea movies are average, they only aspire to be average. :)

But they're "different characters" clearly influenced by the "real people". The movie sets up the personalities of the various "real people" so we'll see them reflected in DG's fantasy version.

For instance, it shows the Lahr character as easily frightened, which then leads him to be the Cowardly Lion.

    So there! ;)

Good point...but I still don't see them as the completely same characters. I'm trying to think of other movies with similar characters...

One could argue that the various versions of INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS feature actors playing both their original selves and later, their pod-people versions.

One: Jet Li plays multiple versions of the same person, each from a different universe (similar to DC Comics original Multiverse). The lead character from the movie also encounters at least one alternate version of a person he knows.

Dr. Otto And The Gloom Beam
    • Jim Varney: Ernest P. Worrell, Dr. Otto, and other characters
    Ernest Goes To Jail
    • Jim Varney: Ernest P. Worrell and Felix Nash
BTW, according to Wikipedia Jim Varney has played more than 15 members of the Worrell Family in his various movies and videos.

    Things Are Tough All Over
    • Richard "Cheech" Marin: Cheech and Mr. Slyman
    • Tommy Chong: Chong and Prince Habib
    Spaceballs
    • Mel Brooks: President Skoob and Yogurt.
All of the above have been checked or confirmed via Wikipedia.

This is pretty small-time but I remember it because I noticed it at the time. Little-known Tito Goya played two minor roles in the Paul Newman film "Fort Apache: The Bronx" (1981).

  18. Jeremy Irons in Dead Ringers
    Peter Sellers
    as well.

  19. Hugh Jackman-The Prestige as Robert Angier and Gerald Root and as Tomás, Tommy and Tom Creo in The Fountain.

I admit I'm kinda sorta splitting hairs. I still view Wicked Witch/Miss Gulch, etc, as different sides of the same character.

Kinda like Professor Kelp and Buddy Love in the Jerry Lewis "Nutty Professor". Buddy is just a different personality of Kelp and not really a different character.

    So there so there! ;)

A German film with Didi Hallervorden playing 7 different characters. Lots of childhood memories are connected with Didi and his films. My grandpa laughed so hard that my grandma was getting angry every time we were watching these movies because he also had asthma and laughing became coughing.
    Totally over the top slapstick!

I can totally accept that one they are obviously the same person, but in Oz, these characters either exist in Dorothy's mind or (arguably) actually in Oz, while Hunk, Zeke, Hickory, Miss Gulch, et al. are back in dusty, sepia-toned Kansas.
