It’s funny that wayneklein listed Jodie Foster as Clarice, yet unless I missed it no one has tackled Hannibal Lecter. Or is the answer just too obvious? :D

Mads Mikkelsen and Brian Cox have both played Hannibal Lecter.

Which of the two would you pick as the Hannibal Lecter? :D

Btw, I’m pretty certain wayneklein meant to address Lecter but just overlooked it.

Ten years ago I would have said Raymond Massey as Lincoln but then Daniel Day-Lewis came along...

I have to go with Christian Bale as Batman, even though I grew up with Adam West.
Christopher Lee is my go to Dracula.
David Suchet embodies Hercule Poirot for me.

Heh, the answer is obvious: neither. I would say Mikkelsen was quite good, but the role is obviously Hopkins’.

So many good ones, but Robert Powell in the miniseries Jesus of Nazareth was great.

Indeed, I would have thought that Joan Hickson has a lock on this.

I am a huge Hercule Poirot fan and no one can play this character like David Suchet.

    Oh yes! Indeed!
To think they almost never used 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow'.....
The Dorothy character becomes 1 with Judy.
    Beautiful stuff.

Do I remember this right, that they thought the song was too much of a "downer?"

I think it's one of the greatest scenes in history.

Yup, and also, films were supposed to be a certain length, which I don't know much about that.
That was the scene to go, but they somehow pushed it to be there.
It gels the whole film to that song almost.
What a great composition too that probably would never had found a life.
