was just listening to a news report where they spoke to doctors who said if it comes down to needing a ventilator it usually means the end is near, too much damage

 

Absolutely horrible news, both in its own right and as a signpost of the perilous era we're now living in.

 

I’m going to break out the Tinted Windows album right now and raise a toast and mourn his passing.

R.I.P. to Adam. Wish I could've seen them live and had a feeling a reunion was in the cards.

 

Just awful. Fountains of Wayne were one of my favorite bands and was proud to have had them from my home state of NJ. RIP Adam.

 

Schlesinger had previously been reported Tuesday morning as “very sick and heavily sedated” by his attorney of 25 years, Josh Grier. Schlesinger had been in an upstate New York hospital for more than a week at that time, Grier said.

His lawyer, Josh Grier, confirmed Schlesinger’s death. Schlesinger was hospitalized in March and tested positive for the coronavirus. At the time, he was placed on a ventilator, which left him heavily sedated.

Incredibly sad news. Adam was an excellent songwriter with all his projects. I remember seeing an interview with Adam on MTV around the time FOW gained attention and he seemed so down to earth and such a humble guy. His premature death makes me wonder if the forthcoming Tinted Windows album will still be released. RIP Adam, we'll never forget you.

 

Just wrote on Twitter, copying here: Probably not an especially original idea, but I always heard the s/t as high school, Utopia as college, and WIM (their best imo) as entering the workforce. Such a great band.

Stacy's Mom came out around the era when I was in middle school and everyone was going through their pop-punk phase. One of the first songs I learned how to play on guitar and successfully palm mute - it will always be a nostalgic band for me

Something to offer on all the FoW albums, but Utopia Parkway is about as perfect as a power pop album can be (on a par with Blondie's Plastic Letters or _____). Blasting it now.

A really great quirky, poppy, atmospheric record.
