I picked up a couple of his CDs at the local Goodwill and really liked them. Of course I've heard his guitar playing elsewhere. What are some his best solo releases?

What did you pick up? I really like Young Lions, Inner Revolution, and Op Zop Too Wah. His acoustic albums (The Acoustic Adrian Belew and BelewPrints • The Acoustic Adrian Belew Volume Two) are fun as well.

I heartily concur with all the album recommendations listed..
Ade is wonderful.. a super nice friendly guy, gregarious and giving.
He has a few really excellent covers floating around on various artist comps too.
His Badfinger, Wilburys, and many others are absolutely AAA.

Lone Rhino and Twang Bar King were seminal albums for me. I'm not sure of their current availability or quality of rereleases but original LP copies aren't too hard to find. Those two are the essentials for me although he's done lots of great work since then. Always worth catching live, too.

That is a cool photo for sure! I also agree with your comment above, he is super nice and friendly. I have had the pleasure of hanging out with him several times. I love that guy!

I've filmed/recorded a lot of his shows over the years. Here's a piece from "e".

You almost can't go wrong with any of his albums. (Desire Caught By The Tail and The Experimental Guitar Series Volume 1: The Guitar as Orchestra, and e...as they are a bit experimental) He's coming out with a new pop album soon. Can't wait.

You won't find a happier performer. He always looks like he is having the time of his life when he is on stage.

Desire Caught by the Tail is my favorite of his solo releases. Completely instrumental and rather experimental.

I've got a ton of Crimson and Belew over on this thread if interested:

A CD with both on one used to be easily obtainable. Probably still available.

Was that Desire of the Rhino King or was there a subsequent reissue of the complete albums?

No, single CD including both full albums. If was up on the DGM site. Maybe still be there.
