Where are you guys pre-ordering from? I couldn't find any links at the audio fidelity site and amazon seems to have it in their system yet.

An amazing sychronicity is going on. I was out and about around town today. I decided to stop in at one of my favorite used book stores today. I've been in a heavy introspective "thinking a lot about Dylan" mode lately. I picked up the Behind The Shades Revisted from Clinton Heylin and Bob Dylan In America from Sean Wilentz.
So now, here I am at home and settled in reading this forum and I see the news that Steve is doing Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits. Yeah. Of course I'm in. I wouldn't miss this for anything. Steve, I really hope you get the opportunity to get to work on more Dylan material. I will surely be there to get it.

Interesting. The original USA LP track listing is out of sequence on the a.f. artwork. Did the running order get changed for this new remasta?

Quite a surprise. I hope it's a big seller for AF.

That would be my guess too, especially on the original 80's CD.

I don't have Greatest Hits, but I was comparing the various mixes of I Want You and Just Like a Woman earlier tonight and there really isn't a lot of obvious difference between the second (final) LP mix and the three CD remixes. There are no obvious giveaways like dramatic differences in instrumental placement that exist on some of the other tracks.

Same running order as my LP KCS 9463. And the original CD. Does anyone have a picture of the "original USA LP track listing?"

Like many others have posted, this album is special to me. Ironically, I am usually the first to insult "Greatest Hits" compilations as not being real albums. But my introduction to Bob Dylan came when I dropped a needle (quite literally as I had no idea how to use a turntable) on my dad's copy of this LP after school one day.

The more Dylan Steve gets his hands the better! Steve, I love the fact that you resisted the urge to make the album uniform-sounding in favor of recreating the original sessions with more fidelity. Truly not just another "greatest hits" album-mastering for what is not just another "greatest hits" album.

    Dude,

Original USA LP has "Like A Rolling Stone" at track 5.

AF art has it at track 7.

Several other discrepancies. I'm just curious, not intoxicated or here to start trouble.

I must apologize to you sir. The record cover has LARS as the 7th track listed, though I just looked at the actual record and it is indeed track 5! The original CD mirrors this trend.... Very cool.

I must confess this is the first time I notice a discrepancy from the cover art to the sleeve, but looking at it closer it seems like it was an attempt to make the album cover more aesthetically pleasing, I'm staring at the record and realizing because of varying lengths of titles (not the tracks, but literally just the titles!) it wouldn't look as aesthetically pleasing in the proper order. But it would seem from the picture posted that for this disc the tracks will appear in the order they are listed on the record cover (for the first time?).

I am curious as to the "several other discrepancies" however. And I promise there will be no accusations of intoxication or belligerence on this thread.
