I’ve given up looking for a used original copy of Mingus Ah Um in a local record store or thrift store or Craig’s list...and eBay prices are a bit high for me...anyone know where I can find a good new mono reissue worth getting?

I would hesitate to spend $500 on the one listed, but a very good condition first-series mono is definitely worth stretching the bank account to get. Mine is one of my favorite pressings, period, and it the best version of the album I have yet heard.

Thanks for the replies...I saw the ones on discogs. 100$ for one that might not have audible clicks ticks and pops from surface scratches. Was hoping to find a good all analog new mono reissue from original master tapes, no public domain pressings from cd’s. Any suggestions?

If it's not a Sony product then it's not real.

Do you mean Columbia? Only Sony pressings I see in Discogs are Japanese...

Any newer pressing with have some Sony credits along with Columbia. Older pressings will state Columbia with no Sony mentioned.

What do you know about Green Corner? Is it a public domain/cutting lacquer from unlicensed digital source type operation?

The 1969-1970 is likely a mono made with a stereo cutting head, as were most monos made after about 1967. You’re better off getting one of the earlier ones if you can.
