4K UHD? What is it? It's a superior high definition video resolution system, but that's not important right now.
This was the first first-run movie I ever saw multiple times when it was in the theaters. Still a favorite.
I make references to movies of this period- like "this was the wrong week to stop sniffing glue." People unfamiliar with the movie look at me like I'm crazy. I guess it's an age/generational thing.
" What was it we had for dinner tonight?" "Well we had a choice of steak or fish." "Yes, I remember. I had the lasagne"
Robert Stack,Lloyd Bridges,Leslie Nielsen ...saw it when it first came out...we were used to seeing these guys from the 50's 60's & 70's in serious tv drama.Ingenious casting Zucker and Abrahams to get these iconic stars ...Leslie Nielsen got a 2nd career out of it.One movie that you never tire of
This new 4k transfer is available on blu-ray via the Paramount Presents line. I just got this a few weeks ago.
It's a good improvement over previous video releases that I'm happy to have. I saw it theatrically 41 years ago and it finally looks like a 35mm projected image.
I first saw 'Airplane' in a double bill at my local cinema where some inspired genius had coupled it with 'The Life Of Brian'. As a kid who was technically under age to see either film but old enough to appreciate enough of the jokes it was a formative, eye-opening afternoon. I do prefer 'Airplane 2' over the first one though.
