Some might track down this little package, The Singles Box, from 1997 which features a stack of live and acoustic b-sides of the era.

The 20th anniversary releases don't look particularly interesting. The live show would be a better pairing for the 2CD set in my mind.

I remember at the time that none of her Jagged Little Pill singles featured any true b-sides (i.e. new songs) of any kind, resorting to endless live and/or acoustic versions.

It's not loud by any means.

It does have a certain "90s digitally recorded" sound to it, through the tracking method I believe.

Isn't the album largely constructed from worked-on demos?

Perhaps a remix will open up the sound a little.

Anyone seriously contemplating the 4CD version almost certainly already has the original album and the acoustic version. Pretty crappy larding the set with BOTH of those to get the demos disc + the live show.

I might spring for the 2CD set. I don't care that much about the live show.

Speaking as someone who already owns the album (duh) and the JLP Acoustic CD from 2005, you are correct. :)

I remember he was the draw for me seeing her live. I was thinking, man this dude is good!

AFAIK, she still hasn't released a DVD or VHS with any of her music videos.

Live/Acoustic b-sides are missing. The demo disc is likely about 30 minutes total. This box has a good 2 hours of "empty" space on it.

A 1995 club show is welcome but she owns a 1996 arena show shot with a ton of cameras with half of it shown in a TV special. There's tons of other 1996 pro-shot footage from which to choose.

  11. Well, remember that Pearl Jam released a remixed Ten and rather than opening up the sound, it closed it in!

I heard that there will be a secret bonus track of a message Dave Coulier left on Alanis' answering machine asking her to "Cut It Out!" and please not release You Ought Know as a single!

    :)

Today's the release day! My copy of the 2-disc Deluxe Edition is on the way. I can't wait to hear the bonus rarities disc!

to be fair, they are newly remastered. almost any box set does included the original album. however, i would prefer another disc of rarities instead of the acoustic cd.

I really like the CD of previously unreleased songs- especially the songs from the JLP sessions themselves. I actually liked them more than I thought I would. Great stuff!

Interesting... I'm going to copy and paste a comment from this site with more information about the radio show and what the bonus tracks are for that Target exclusive edition:

Based on that date, it looks like six of the bonus tracks on the Target edition are the Space Cakes EP in its entirety. The seventh, "Hand in My Pocket", was also recorded during that radio session but was not released on the EP.

    Ah-ha!

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Cakes

Thanks for the information! I'll order it for those tracks, then. :)

Those tracks really should have been on the second disc of the standard 2-disc edition in the first place!

Oh well, at least the Target exclusive version is reasonably priced.

I think the Jagged Little Pill Acoustic album from 2005 (which is included in the 4-disc set but not exclusive to it) is really good and worth buying separately. Buy the 2-disc JLP Deluxe Edition and the JLP Acoustic album separately. I like the softer interpretations of the songs.
