Aha! Thanks for informing me, since I Searched with no hits... And there literally was not any "mention" of Hitchcock
Here's an obscure one that fits the category: cover by Ant Grouth-Smith Plus (for Lightbulb and Laibach) another which isn't so obscure: cover by Robin Hitchcock
Paul Thorn has done the artwork for many of his albums. Has a great folk art feel to them. Matches his music perfectly. Here are a few of them. Rick G
Five pages, and no mention of the King of Artist's Album Art? I give you... Robert Pollard http://www.spd.org/2008/10/robert-pollards-album-art.php album art by robert pollard So many stunning, exceptional covers. And I'm not saying that as a fan of his music. Even if I never heard of this guy, I'd be intrigued at these records by their asthetic alone.
Here's an amazing cover done by the entire group! Supposedly, when considering an album cover, they remembered the art they'd done on a blackboard while waiting to play at some school somewhere a few days earlier, and sent someone to photograph the blackboard. Fortunately, the school had been closed for the week so the art was still there, otherwise it would surely have been erased before being photographed. cover by Fairport Convention
Swell is one of my favorite bands ever, sadly overlooked and underrated. The drummer, Sean Kirkpatrick, is also a painter.
Cover art based on a painting by Sviatoslav Richter. Not very well reproduced here, nor does Vox's logo do it any favors.
It's from a different issue of the album than the one you own. If you go to discogs.com you'll see the various countries and editions for not just this album, but just about every album you can think of!
As much as I love Bill Callahan and find him extremely talented, he didn't do these. They are both by Paul Ryan.
