Don't think anyone's mentioned this: another Magritte, 'Not To Be Reproduced', inspiration for Roger Daltrey's 'One Of The Boys' and also (less directly) that wonderful cover for Black Sabbath's 'Sabotage'.

How do people even come up with stuff like that? If I stare at a single one, the whole thing will slow down or stop.

With its winding rivers and similar colour scheme this Bosch painting (Garden of delight) reminded me a little of the Allman's Eat a peach , slightly different kinds of delight though

Man, The Sisters of Mercy had good taste in art(work)!

Looks like the Basquiat's logo... and haircut... but a crown without a king IMO.

I stick with Gustave Doré. From his illustrations to The Rime of the Ancient Mariner (1876), Plate 14: "The Game is Done"

Did The Beatles ever say that? I always assumed that the idea came from Yoko's exhibitions in 66/67 where everything was painted white:

No, they didn't. The post was kind of a joke replying to Malewitsch's "Black Square".
It was more about the visual appearance of an artwork, hence the reference to the master of white monochrome paintings Robert Ryman.
