Boy is that the truth. I've spent time in Southern Arizona and got stuck bad by them. Our poor dog too!

 

I love the desert and have for 35 years. But wear 8" leather boots and no shorts, no short sleeves, always a hat.

 

I don't know if that's Jumping Cholla behind Sonny Rollins or not, but he seems safe enough, he is wearing trousers, unlike the woman in the clip below:

Pretty horrifying, eh? Spring-loaded (effectively, anyway) cactus -- YIKES!
