Many of the album covers listed above are very good albums and when you see it you know exactly what it is. No words are needed. I see the Mona Lisa, I know what it is. That's part of why I got into music, that 12" vinyls album cover. I felt I was getting ripped off with cassettes so I never pursued them and at first thought the same with CD.

My problem today is identifying CDs without words (which can be another topic, Name That CD).

Strange that they would release it with and without band name and album title.

Also “One Man Dog”, I wonder how many people recognized him with the moustache as well.

Its interesting that a lot of the more well known albums such as "If I Could Only...", "One Man Dog", "Dark Side of the Moon", "Court of the Crimson King", etc. all had no titles when they came out but now have them added on the CD versions. Kind of spoils the cover in my opinion, but I can kind of see why they would do that.

Can't believe I missed this beauty...Screamadelica It's funny how some images are so burned-in to the brain that you actually forget that there's no title info on the sleeve...It just doesn't register... (I felt that way when I saw Abbey Road mentioned earlier in the thread...)

Dark Side had a circular sticker on the shrinkwrap when it was released. Anyway the cover was a winner - Storm Thorgerson said how he'd prepared a number of possible covers for the band to see, but all four pointed and said "That one."

No name, no title, partially obscured tracklist in a language I don’t understand...yet somehow this album is in my collection.
    Marketing matters.
