It really depends on the person On the forum it is probably Cold Chisel - East, Circus Animals or Barking Spiders Live 1983... mainly because Cold Chisel are fairly unknown outside of Australia. In real life... it could be 15 or more albums, because it depends who I'm talking to, and if I have an inkling they might like something.
Revolver - The Beatles A Storm In Heaven - The Verve The Southern Harmony & Musical Companion - The Black Crowes Presence - Led Zeppelin Days of The New - Days of The New
I recommended Black Country Communion IV to a lot of people and they all agreed it's great. Can't wait for their fifth album!
I used to recommend albums all the time in the days before the internet populated with so many great music resources. In the days since, two really stand out; 1.) Catherine Wheel - Adam and Eve from 1997. this is my only Top 10 album that needs recommendation. Though it has its share of fans, IMO, it's a lost masterpiece. 2.) White Lies - To Lose My Life... from 2009. I can never get enough of this band, especially this album. So i hereby recommend anyone unfamiliar with these albums check 'em out asap!
In the last few years around here, it would probably be one of these five, I've recommended all of them a lot, though I think my success rate has remained pretty low throughout that period too Melanie De Biasio - No Deal Maarja Nuut and Ruum - Muunduja Ian William Craig - Centres The Revolutionary Army of the Infant Jesus - Beauty Will Save the World Carla Dal Forno - The Garden EP Very recently, it would probably be Carla Dal Forno The Garden since I've talked some here about her new album Come Around, and inevitably I mention The Garden since it is such a big favorite.
Adam and Eve is amazing. Good pick. Side story: I filled out a comment form on Singer's website (the Porsche company Rob owns) and said that they should make a Catherine Wheel Porsche (Black Metallic, Chrome, Indigo is Blue, etc...). Yeah, they never responded. Haha.
If someone asks me to recommend something, I usually ask what they like first and go from there. If they ask what my favorite album is, I usually say The Holy Bible by Manic Street Preachers.
Probably Good Violence by The Subsonics. Also Lava Hay's self-titled album, and All Our Own Work by Sandy & The Strawbs.
Only about three of my friends have impeccable taste in music, (i.e., closest to mine,) and I've recently recommended John Martyn to all of them. To my knowledge, none of them have checked him out yet. And who knows--they may not hear what I hear. He's so little-known in the U.S.--unlike his friend Nick Drake--and it's just a tragic shame.
2nd that on Lava Hay's album!! Another one I often recommend that not many know about but is incredible Trespasser's William--Different Stars...incredible if you like outstanding female vocals..tight timely guitar work, and whole album is dripping with ache and melancholy

I never do, music is like eating, and I gave up trying to recommend French cuisine over warmed over hamburgers. People like warmed over hamburgers and they'll argue it's fine dining and say they think the French cuisine sucks.
Bosley - The Dirty Dogs Radio Show (Don't think I've ever actually recommended it to anyone, but I would if they asked)
