Side One of Abbey Road is a strong side. Actually it does not have a weak side.

    Side One:
    1. Come Together
    2. Something
    3. Oh, Darling
    4. Maxwell's Silver Hammer
    5. Octopus' Garden
I Want You (She's So Heavy)

The Abbey Road slander recently is wild.

Anyway, I'll rehash the conversation had on the sequencing thread and say Synchronicity. The songs on Side A are interesting but I don't go back to them (except "Synchronicity II" and the hook of "Miss Gradenko").

Also, I'll throw in this one: Side four of Blonde on Blonde. Heh.

Side one is great, but side two is too whiney and plodding to my ears.
I like "Birds" and "Cripple Creek Ferry" though.

Side 1 is all cod mythology and classicism.

Side 2 is a refreshing swim in the sea of realism.

I disagree with so many of the previous posts, it’s downright startling.

Too scared to contribute, lest I contribute to the madness.

Yes, but Eno's influence is all over that side of the record. Bowie had never really written anything like that before he met Eno (and really never would again, after they parted ways), whereas that kind of writing was becoming Eno's trademark. So, I still say it's down to how you feel about Eno's writing / influence.

Eno was absolutely influential there, but so were Kraftwerk and some others, and Tony Visconti was also really into pushing in that direction. I think Low was really a case of all the right people being around at the right time. Even when Eno returned on Outside the same magic didn't happen (though I do like that record better than most 90s/00's Bowie).

Television’s “Marquee Moon.” Side 1 is beyond fantastic. Side 2 is just OK.

I'm gobsmacked that people think Abbey Road has a "weak side",the whole thing is 100% perfect.

The great sound of the 50th Anniversary half-speed mastered Abbey Road vinyl has made me want to play the whole album.

UGHH-with all the great stuff McCartney has done, this is the pits. On CD at least I can easily skip "Bip Bop" (sometimes I will just listen to the first 45 seconds-which is what the "song" should have been and then skip ahead.
But when it was an album I almost never listened to side one. Sometimes I'd play "Mumbo" and then flip it over to hear the far superior 2nd side.

Completely disagree. I actually prefer side 1 to side 2(and I enjoy Echoes quite a bit)

There is a difference between saying something is weak and saying it is just weaker than something else.

I do like side 1 of Low more than side 2, and there are times I will only listen to side 1 because that’s what I’m in a mood to hear. But I couldn’t say that means side 2 is weak...

I'm sure I'm in a minor minority, but I think Side 2 is the best side of Moving Pictures.
