I used to have Sign but I don't think I ever got all the way through it to the end. Plenty of great songs here and there though.

Pretenders - Side 2 isn't a weak side, but it is definitely way different than Side 1.

 

Echo and the Bunnymen - Ocean Rain

Side 1 is pretty unbearable, especially compared to the greatness on side 2.

 

It’s not only one of his finest things, but is one of the Beatles finest things period IMO. At the time and some today regard it as the finest 11 minutes in music I read repeatedly on YouTube comments.

 

Agree but the AR is my favorite Beatle album period.

 

Spot on about Da Capo. The first side is absolutely amazing and the second side one song is a dud.

 

That was a Rob Sheffeld take as well. I respectfully disagree. Great from start to finish.

 

I’m weird I guess and always loved WA side 4 and BOTR side 2.

Anyone remember the first Aztec Camera album, High Land, Hard Rain, from 1983?

Side one has five classic songs that were played constantly on college/alternative radio stations. I played the second side a few times and decided to stick with side one.

Earlier than that imo. After "Liar." But it's incredible until then.

 

The various digs at Come Together, Maxwell's, Oh Darling and Octopus' Garden have been noted elsewhere. Anyway, years ago, my wife and I were driving, listening to Abbey Road. We got to the familiar side 1 closer and took liberty with the lyrics as we sang along: "She's so ... FAT!" And it got worse from there. So I've got this association with that car trip forever. Your mileage likely varies.

 

Blue Oyster Cult - Tyranny and Mutation. Side 1 is perfect, side two can’t compare.
