LOL There's more problems with Beatles 1 than just NR.

Wings' London Town and Speed of Sound are both ruined for me by the NR employed on the Capitol CDs. These discs represent the first time it really hit me how bad NR is.

Huey Lewis and the News Sports remaster is another that comes to mind. There's so much life sucked out of this one that the heart of rock and roll stopped beating.

  7. Yes, these are particularly bad. Compare them to the well done American versions produced by Bill Levenson. Generally, I've found that Levenson does an exceptional job with most of the remasters that he has produced.

All of the 1990 Beach Boys Capitol 2-fers. Mark Linett has since stated this was something he regretted.

The Hendrix cd's that Joe Gastwirt mastered in the early 90's. I have an article about how Sonic Solutions is great and has no adverse effects on the music. It's almost comical.

Amen. There was a Hendrix Greatest hits cd I had from that time that was horrible. It sucked the life right out of it. If there are any record execs reading this, please take note: SONIC SOLUTIONS SUCKS! :righton:

The recent Donovan remasters all went through Abbey Road Mastering Studio's standard no-noised remastering process. All sound awful - but then, you could have guessed that.

    Thanks for the warning...:sigh:

Solid Gold Records seems to have reissued their entire catalogue.... and the reissues all have been no-noised.

Before I came here I didn't know what NoNoise was...I just knew some of my CDs sounded like crap.

How 'bout The Beatles Red & Blue collections.
    1962-1966 and 1967-1970.

They could have and should have sounded great.

Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell" - the "Expanded" Edition (24 bits, etc.) Just like Huey Lewis, they somehow managed to kill one of the wildest rock singers of the 80's, thanks to NoNoise.

I suppose we then must list each and every one of those DORIG digipak re-issues of Cliff, The Shadows, The Animals, The Fourmost, Billy J Kramer, The Hollies, Dave Edmunds et cetera, and each and every one of the Abbey Road series.

The sad truth being that in every other respect EMI has put a lot of effort into presenting the past beautifully. The reissues LOOK superb - that wonderful George Martin 6 CD affair with the Parlophone label designs on the CDs.

    All of them!

  21. I thought they used CEDAR at Abbey Road, not NoNoise. Am I mistaken?

I had a few EMI CDs from the early 1990s and they all had the Sonic Solutions NoNOISE logo. Maybe they switched to CEDAR later.
