Well, I wouldn't want to change anything other than the audio quality of the finished product. My fantasies are not so intricate that I imagine how access to better recording equipment would effect the sessions.

Huh, I have this album (Heart) stacked away somewhere but can't get to it :(

I believe it is a picture disc. And I don't remember any problems with it. I wonder if there were multiple masters?

I never knew Heart 1985 had a picture disc?

10,000 Maniacs In My Tribe. An amazing album but I cringe every time I listen to it bc it’s just so flat and tinny, and I’ve tried all the masters that I know of (MFSL, recent vinyl, etc). This one needs some love.

Anything released during The Loudness War I (2004-2008) is in desperate need for a remaster.

All of the Whitney Houston albums; all of the Blondie catalogue (decent remasters, not like 2001 ones); all of the albums by Gloria Estefan/Miami Sound Machine; Control and Rhythm Nation 1814 by Janet Jackson; Kyile Minougue's debut; Like A Prayer and Like A Virgin by Madonna; Reel Life by Boy Meets Girl; Richard Marx 80s albums; the Duran Duran catalogue; Mariah Carey's 90s albums; the ABBA catalogue (decent remasters); all of the albums by Level 42; Samantha Fox S/T.

“Automatic for the People” with decent drum sound and good dynamics. The latest remaster was compressed a bit too much for my taste, and I can’t extract the Atmos mix... 45rpm AAA vinyl please?

Although predating 2004, Red Hot Chili Peppers Californication falls right in this bucket.

Agreed, though the original CD sounds pretty good.

I would say Blondie Eat to the Beat, but there is the HiRez 24/96 that is an improvement over the original cd. And even though MFSL did a remaster of 10,000 Maniacs of In My Tribe, I have read it is not all that much better than the original vinyl LP. What it should sounded like is the very rare Quiex II remaster on the semi clear super vinyl (not the Classics heavy vinyl from the late 90's and early 2000's but the one from the mid 80's). Also I am Shelby Lynn, the cd is good, but I think it could sound much better.

That is my thought as well, which I posted just now. If you can ever find a decent copy of the Quiex II lp, get, it sounded much better tha the vinyl or the cd (both version's the with Peace Train and the one with out).

Thanks for the pointer. I don't think I've seen it but will keep an eye out for it.

There are deluxe editions of the first 2 Whitney Houston albums.

They're starting to get better, some of them, but no way did this crap stop in 2008. I'm still buying hot remasters.

As far as I know, only a deluxe edition of the debut was released in 2011. It sounds great but the rest of her albums really need to be remastered.

Is the Adams considered particularly loud? Or is there some other issue with the sound?

    (Just curious—it’s a GREAT album.)

I didn't know two of their albums were on HDtracks, thsnks for the info. Did you hear the Parallel Lines 24/96?

Don't buy the HDtracks versions! They look heavily compressed! I hope the remasters of this year will be nothing close to this :(

Thanks for the warning! The idea that any hdtracks release would be compressed boggles my mind.
