This obviously is an IMO question. No right or wrong answers. The one thing I would say is that an album like the Beatles Yellow Submarine should not be selected. Simply because the Beatles only appear on side 1. Not taking George Martin's side, just feel two different artists should be exempt from the list. What follows are my albums for the thread:

Heart : Dog and Butterfly- Save for the song "Straight On" side 1 is a dog. Side 2 vastly superior for me

David Bowie: Let's Dance - A lot of Bowie fan's dislike this album, but for me side 1 has most of the best songs. China Girl, Let's Dance, Modern Love... Side 2 ?????

Talking Heads: Little Creatures - Save for "And She Was" Side 2 superior IMO

Let me know if you have run across uneven album sides.

Aftermath- side 1 US or UK is great.
You have cuts like Paint it black US, Mothers little helper UK plus Lady Jane & Under my thumb on both.
On side 2 in the UK only you have Out of time which is the only side 2 track in the same ballpark as the first 4 songs i mentioned.

War of the Worlds is a bit like this. The first disc is much more constant than the second one.

Live Peace In Toronto. Can't stand all that excruciating pub rock on side one.

  8. Side 2 of Bowie's 'Low'. I don't like Side 1 either

The Beatles - Abbey Road (I only like side 2)
Jackson Browne - The Pretender (on side 2 I really only like the title song)

In all fairness, you'd be hard pressed to find a topic that hasn't been covered at this point!

Surprised I’m the first to mention it, but Love’s Da Capo is the obvious match.

How about a double album example.... Wilco’s Being There. CD1 is perhaps the best Alt-Country album ever made. CD2 is just an average at best album and if released as a standalone album (though it’s not terrible) it might be their weakest album to date.

that's less one side being classic and one not being and more that nothing could have compared to Echoes if put on Side 1.

This thread has been done a dozen times!
Aside from Love's Da Capo, I usually go for the Simple Minds album Sparkle In The Rain, where Side A is all classics and great songs, while Side B has a long cover song (Lou Reed's Street Hassle), an instrumental and some good not great original songs.

I’ve always felt that side one of Television’s “Marquee Moon” is so fantastic that side two is somewhat of a letdown with no classic songs. I play the first side more often than the whole album.
