Whoa, I never knew that was a cover. Who is the original by? I guess I can look it up, ha.

I didn't read the whole thread, so not sure if these were mentioned, but:

Motley Crue- Jalhouse Rock on Girls Girls Girls
KISS- And Then She Kissed Me on Destroyer
Joan Jett- Little Drummer Boy (and probably more since she did so many covers)

The closing track of Joni Mitchell's Mingus the album is actually a cover of Charles Mingus' jazz-instrumental Goodbye Pork Pie Hat, originally recorded by his sextet in 1959 and released on his album Mingus Ah Um; Mitchell wrote lyrics.

When I started at university in 1985 there were very few kids who had CD players, and even fewer who could actually afford to buy CDs. Most of them seemed to make their purchases on the basis of how CD-ish the recording was; they all seemed to own Propaganda's A Secret Wish with the inlay notes that went into loving technical detail about a couple of unintentional squawks and hisses.

Then in my final year one of the CD boys for some reason acquired Dinosaur Jr's You're Living All Over Me. I'd bought the cassette a couple of weeks earlier, and was saddened to find that the CD version finished with an absolutely filthy cover of Frampton's Show Me The Way.

The original SST CD is the only version of the album that this appears on. Subsequent releases either stop at the previous track, or substitute a so-so cover of The Cure's Just Like Heaven. I assumed this was due to a licensing problem but Show Me The Way appears on their 1991 SST compilation, so who knows?

Guadalcanal Diary covered Kum Ba Yah for the final track of their debut. And a mighty fine job of it.

The Lemonheads' It's a Shame About Ray

First pressing ended with a cover of "Frank Mills" from the musical Hair. It was soon reissued to include another cover song, "Mrs. Robinson", which was tacked onto the end.

This very cool cover of 'Let It All Hang Out'' by The Hombres is the closer on John Mellencamp's ''Big Daddy'' album.
